The Oldfield Family
Four Decades of Growing Exceptional Dahlias
Highland Dahlias began its journey in 1985 on a dairy farm in the heart of NSW's Southern Highlands. The farm was registered as a nursery in 1988, marking the beginning of our focus on growing the finest dahlia tubers in Australia.
Olwyn and Gerard Oldfield have dedicated over four decades to cultivating and perfecting their collection. What started as a passion for competition has grown into one of Australia's premier dahlia enterprises, with over 400 unique named varieties available each season.
Between 1982 and 2020, our dahlias competed — and won — at shows across New South Wales, the ACT, and South Australia. For 15 consecutive years, we held the title of Most Successful Exhibitor at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, cementing our reputation as Australia's leading dahlia growers.
In 2025, after a 17-year break from competition, we returned to the Sydney Royal Easter Show and were named the Most Successful Exhibitor — a testament to the quality and care that goes into every tuber we grow.
