Dinner Plate Dahlias

The big blooms of the dahlia world. Traditionally Dinner Plate Dahlias referred to the large 'dinner plate' sized decorative dahlias that were a lot shallower then the big blooms we currently see. The term was formed not only due to the size of the blooms but the fact that they had the look of a 'dinner plate' that was upside down. These days our dinner plate dahlias while still big in diameter are also deeper then previously seen & we also have some of the very big cactus varieties sometimes referred to as 'dinner plate dahlias'.
