It is advisable to use a growth enhancer in the soil to give your tubers the best chance of growing successfully. After years of trialling soil amendments, we moved to natural enhancers that build living, microbe-rich soil — and the difference in our blooms speaks for itself.

Tips for Growing Great Flowers
What we've learnt growing championship blooms in the Southern Highlands — and where the NGI enhancers fit in.
Start With the Soil, Not the Plant
UGF6in1 + Liberated Lignite
Great flowers are grown below ground. Dig in sheep or cow manure, gypsum and garden lime about two weeks before planting, then drench the bed with UGF6in1 and work in Liberated Lignite so the microbes are already multiplying when your tubers go in.
Give Roots a Head Start
UGF6in1 + Humus Powder
Apply UGF6in1 and a little humus powder at planting time, right alongside your tubers, corms, seeds or cuttings. Strong early roots mean a sturdier plant that copes far better with a hot summer.
Fix Tired or Sandy Soil
Liberated Lignite
If water runs straight through your beds or they have set hard, Liberated Lignite is the quickest way to lift soil organics. NGI rate it at up to 10× the water-holding capacity, so moisture stays where the roots can reach it.
Foliar Feed Regularly Through the Season
UGF6in1 (foliar feed)
Once plants are up and growing, spray UGF6in1 over the leaves on a regular schedule. Leaves take up nutrients quickly, and a well-fed plant produces stronger stems, better blooms and is less inviting to pests. Always mix to the rates on the NGI label.
Spray in the Cool of the Day
UGF6in1
Apply foliar feeds early in the morning or late in the afternoon, never in the heat of the day. Leaves absorb more before the spray dries, and you avoid scorching foliage in strong sun.
Water Deeply, Not Often
Water if rainfall has been less than 25mm in the last 7 days, early in the morning. Mulch over humus-rich soil cuts evaporation and weeds, and the extra water-holding capacity from the enhancers means you water less often.
Feed Pots More Often
UGF6in1 + Humus Powder
Flowers in pots dry out and use up their nutrients faster than those in the ground. Mix humus powder through the potting mix at planting, and give potted plants a UGF6in1 drench more regularly than your garden beds.
Pinch, Dead-Head and Keep Air Moving
Remove the growing tip once plants reach 30–40cm for more blooms, keep up with dead-heading, and strip damaged or low foliage so air circulates around the base. Feeding keeps the plant pushing out new flowers to replace the ones you cut.
